Sprayer Operator
📍 Wellstead, WA $40 to $45/hr
Full time Cropping & Livestock Accommodation Provided
A well established, family owned mixed farming operation on WA's south coast is looking for an experienced Sprayer Operator to join their small, close knit team. The family behind the farm are genuine, down to earth people who take real pride in their operation and look after their staff. You'll spend the season behind the wheel of a modern spray rig across 4,300 hectares of cropping country, with general machinery work and a hand with the sheep operation along the way. It's a great spot for genuine coastal living, with both Albany and Bremer Bay around an hour's drive away and the beach itself just 5 kilometres from the front gate.

🌾 About the Farm
A 6,500 hectare mixed sheep and cropping operation at Wellstead, WA, featuring:
  • 4,300 hectares of cropping, growing canola, wheat, barley and oats
  • 7,000 breeding ewes, with around 4,000 to 5,000 lambs feedlotted each year
  • A Case machinery fleet running Pro700 and Pro1200 displays with Raven GPS and autosteer
  • A brand new shearing shed with fully undercover yards
  • Well maintained infrastructure across the whole property
💧 About the Role
The primary focus of this role is spray operations across the cropping program, with general machinery work and a hand with the sheep enterprise across the rest of the year. Day to day, you'll be involved in:
  • Operating the boomspray across 4,300 hectares of cropping country
  • Mixing and loading chemical tank loads accurately, following label rates and safe handling procedures
  • Operating machinery across seeding, harvest and other seasonal operations as required
  • Supporting livestock work including the lamb feedlot, shearing and general sheep handling
  • Assisting with general farm upkeep, fencing and water infrastructure
  • Contributing to a safe, tidy and well run operation day to day
✅ What You'll Need
  • Boomspray experience, with confidence mixing and loading tank chemicals accurately and safely
  • ChemCert or equivalent chemical accreditation, or a willingness to obtain one
  • Current C class driver's licence, MC licence highly regarded
  • Confidence working with GPS and precision ag technology, or a willingness to learn
  • A practical, get it done attitude with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work across both cropping and livestock operations
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a small team

Full time hours are generally around 40 to 50 hours per week, with more required during peak periods such as seeding, spraying and harvest. The role moves to full time following a trial period.

The local town is within 1 kilometre of the farm, with a school, service station, community hall and resource centre. Albany and the coastal town of Bremer Bay are both around an hour's drive away, and the coast itself is just 5 kilometres from the farm, giving genuine coastal lifestyle right on your doorstep. Local sporting clubs and a close community round out a great place to put down roots.
