Based approximately two hours from the nearest town, this role suits someone passionate about the station lifestyle who is ready to take genuine ownership of a large-scale cattle operation.

A serious, well-resourced cattle station running 3,500–4,000 head of Droughtmaster across approximately 300,000 hectares of Upper Gascoyne country. The property is well set up with quality infrastructure and has a strong, established supply chain through Nutrien.

📋 Key responsibilities
Livestock & operations
• Oversee all daily station operations • Mustering, branding & processing • Monitor herd health & welfare • Coordinate mustering teams & contractors • Liaise with Nutrien supply chain
Infrastructure & maintenance
• Manage bore & water systems • Maintain fencing, yards & roads • Workshop, machinery & vehicle upkeep • Identify & action maintenance needs
People & leadership
• Lead & mentor station staff • Foster a safe, positive team culture • Manage rosters & labour coordination • Liaise with contractors & suppliers
Compliance & admin
• Uphold WHS standards on-property • Maintain biosecurity protocols • Assist with planning & budgeting • Accurate livestock & ops record keeping

🤠 What we're looking for
This role suits an experienced station hand or manager who has worked their way up through the industry and is ready to step into a senior leadership position. You'll need to be self-motivated, solutions-focused, and comfortable operating autonomously in a remote setting. Essential: ✓ Proven senior station hand or management experience ✓ Strong cattle handling across all aspects ✓ Practical welding ability ✓ Sound machinery knowledge ✓ Ability to lead a team independently ✓ Rural infrastructure maintenance ✓ Comfortable with remote station living ✓ Australian pastoral background Highly regarded: ★ Experience with Droughtmaster or tropical breeds ★ Familiarity with large-scale Gascoyne operations ★ Experience with Nutrien supply chains ★ HR licence or heavy vehicle experience ★ Chemical handling certification ★ Current first aid certificate
