A progressive and well established 8,000Ha broadacre cropping enterprise in the northern Wheatbelt is seeking a Senior Farm Hand with leadership potential to join their operation.

This role is ideal for an experienced machinery operator who takes pride in paddock preparation, understands large scale cropping systems, and is looking to take the next step in their career. The successful applicant will initially focus on machinery operation and paddock execution across the farming program, while gradually becoming more involved in planning, decision making, and day to day operational management.

Over time, the owners are hoping this position will develop into a Farm Manager or Operations Manager type role, with the right person progressively taking on greater responsibility across the business and helping relieve some of the operational workload from the owner.

You will work closely with an experienced family farming team whose guiding principle is “efficient production with innovation and balance.” The business is focused on running a highly productive cropping operation while continually improving systems, adopting new ideas, and maintaining a positive and sustainable lifestyle for both the owners and their staff.

As the Senior Farm Hand, your primary responsibility will be the safe and efficient operation of farm machinery and preparation of paddocks across all stages of the cropping program, including ripping, seeding, spraying and harvest.

You will take pride in maintaining high standards of machinery care, paddock presentation and operational efficiency, while working closely with the owners to ensure seasonal programs run smoothly.

Beyond machinery operation, the role also involves crop monitoring, general farm organisation, and contributing to day to day operational planning across the business. The successful applicant will gradually become more involved in broader farm management responsibilities as their experience within the operation grows.

This role has been designed as a pathway toward greater responsibility over time, with the opportunity to develop into an Operations Manager or Farm Manager type role for the right person.

It would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, thinking ahead during busy seasonal periods, and contributing to the long term success of a large scale cropping enterprise.

✅ What You'll Need

• Several years experience in large scale broadacre cropping
• Strong machinery operating skills
• Mechanical knowledge and problem solving ability
• HC licence and manual C class licence
• Chemcert preferred (not essential)
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail

⏱️ Work Schedule

• Standard hours: ~40 hours per week
• Peak periods: up to 60 hours during seeding and harvest
• Full time position with long term opportunity
