A rare opportunity for a driven, younger operator to step up into an Operations Manager/2IC role and run the day to day of a 7,500 hectare cropping property in your own right. You'll lead a young team through the full cropping calendar and report back to the farm owner, who is based at the family's other cropping aggregation near Williams. This is a genuine family farm, not a corporate outfit, with growth opportunities available over time for the right person to take on more responsibility. This role is for the 2027 season, so there's plenty of lead time to plan the move.
🌾 About the Operation
This 7,500 hectare cropping property is located 15km south of Pingrup in WA's southern wheatbelt, running a 100% cropping program of canola, barley, wheat and faba beans. The farm is equipped with a modern machinery fleet including John Deere, Agrifac and Bourgault gear plus Kenworth trucks, and makes use of John Deere RTK GPS and AgSkan precision ag technology. It's the second of two cropping aggregations run by this family operation, with the other a 2,000 hectare property near Williams (cropping canola and barley) where the owner is primarily based, alongside an existing team of three full-time farm hands and a 2IC.
🔧 About the Role
As Operations Manager/2IC, you'll take day to day charge of this property, reporting back to the farm owner. You'll be the on-ground lead across the full cropping program, including:
- Implementing the day to day operations of the property: spraying, seeding, harvesting and everything in between
- Managing staff, including leading a team of 4 to 6 people through rostering and day to day supervision
- Implementing the cropping program in line with the plan set for the season
- Being involved in seasonal planning alongside the owner, with real input into how the program is run
- Confidently operating all types of farm machinery and troubleshooting mechanical issues as they arise
- Applying chemical and agronomy knowledge to support day to day cropping decisions
- Being the on-ground point of contact for planning and progress, reporting back to the farm owner
✅ What You'll Need
- Previous experience as a senior farm hand or operations manager on a broadacre cropping enterprise
- Mechanically minded, with a proven ability to solve problems
- Solid chemical and agronomy knowledge
- Confidence operating all types of farm machinery
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small team
- MC licence, or a genuine willingness to obtain one
Chemcert and a forklift ticket are a bonus but not essential.
🎁 What's on Offer
- Salary of $120,000 - $130,000 dependent on experience

Hours are around 50 per week during the off season (Monday to Friday, 7am-5pm), stepping up to 70-80 hours per week during seeding and harvest.
🏠 Accommodation
A 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom family home is provided, with power, water and gas included. The home is currently unfurnished, though the owner is happy to work with the right candidate to furnish it if needed. It comes with air conditioning, a garage and a small concrete shed/workshop behind the house, and is well suited to a family.
📍 Location
The property is 15km south of Pingrup and 65km south of Lake Grace, where schools and a hospital are located. It's around 100km to Katanning and 180km to Albany.
