A well established family owned mixed farming business east of Kojonup is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to work alongside the existing manager and help deliver the operational plan each season. This is a genuine pathway role for someone with a strong mixed broadacre background who wants to grow into full operational autonomy of a high performing, well capitalised farm.

🌾 About the operation
This is a 2,500 hectare arable mixed farming business located east of Kojonup in Western Australia's Great Southern, running roughly 70 percent cropping and 30 percent livestock. The cropping program is a high performing system that benchmarks in the top 25 percent of the region for water use efficiency, run alongside a self replacing merino flock.
The properties carry quality, modern equipment and well established infrastructure throughout. The business continues to trial and implement new practices and technology, including variable rate application and confinement feeding.

🚜 About the role
A full-time Operations Manager position working alongside the existing manager, with the two of you jointly responsible for delivering the operational plan for the season. The structure is flat and reports directly to the owner operators, who are on hand to provide close support for up to 24 months while you settle into the role.
Key responsibilities include:
🔸 Working with the existing manager to deliver the seasonal operational plan across cropping and livestock
🔸 Day to day running of the cropping program, from seeding through to harvest
🔸 Overseeing the self replacing merino flock and associated livestock work
🔸 Managing seasonal staff and contractors, including rostering and on farm direction
🔸 Planning and coordinating machinery use, maintenance and logistics
🔸 Supporting the rollout of new practices and technology across the business
🔸 Maintaining safe work practices and farm procedures at all times
Hours follow the seasonal workload, with longer days through seeding and harvest. Time off in lieu is provided for weekend and late shift work.
✅ What you'll need
• 5 to 15 years working in a high performing mixed broadacre business (strong preference)
• Solid practical experience across both cropping and sheep enterprises
• Confident operating and managing a modern machinery fleet
• Proven ability to lead seasonal staff and coordinate contractors
• Good planning skills and the judgement to make decisions in season
• Interest in new technology and continuous improvement on farm
• Strong communication skills and a team first approach
• Unrestricted Driver's Licence

A one bedroom, one bathroom cottage on farm, normally used for seasonal staff, is available for up to 12 months if needed.

A long-term off farm housing solution in the Kojonup area will be needed, and the owners are happy to help point you in the right direction.

Kojonup sits in Western Australia's Great Southern, about two and a half hours south east of Perth on the Albany Highway and an easy run down to Albany and the south coast. It is a strong, well serviced farming town with schooling, medical services, shops, and an active sporting and social club scene, which makes it a good base for singles, couples and families alike.
