A family run mixed enterprise farming operation based at Newdegate in WA's southern wheatbelt is seeking an experienced Farm Hand to join their close knit team. Running a 4,000 hectare cropping program alongside a 6,000 head merino breeding flock across 7,000 hectares, this is a great opportunity for someone with solid all round farming skills who enjoys variety and working as part of a small, hands on team.
🌾 About the Operation
A family owned mixed enterprise operation running 7,000 hectares in total, including a 4,000 hectare cropping program (barley, canola, wheat and some oats) and a 3,000 head merino breeding ewe flock (around 6,000 sheep all up). The farm is spread across five blocks, two of which sit either side of the Newdegate townsite, a main block just out of town, and a further block near Kukerin, about an hour away.
🔧 About the Role
Working alongside the owners and existing team, you will take on general farm duties across cropping and livestock, with the ability to operate machinery independently during peak periods.
- General farm duties including livestock handling, fencing and machinery maintenance and cleaning
- Spreading and other general operational tasks
- Independently drive a seeder, boomspray and truck during seeding and harvest
- Assist with sheep work across the breeding flock
- Travel to the Kukerin block as needed for general duties and checking stock and water
- Stay on site at the Kukerin block during seeding and harvest periods (approximately four nights at a time)
- Work well as part of a small, close knit team
✅ What You'll Need
- Experience working with sheep
- Experience driving a boomspray
- Experience driving a truck
- MC licence preferred (support provided to obtain if required)
- Chemical handling certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Willingness to travel between blocks and stay on site during peak periods
🎁 What's on Offer
- $100,000 to $120,000 per annum, depending on experience
- On farm accommodation available (family home or single style quarters), with power and water provided

- Butchered lamb provided whenever a kill is done, a couple of times a year

📍 Location
Located just 2km north of Newdegate townsite in WA's southern wheatbelt. Newdegate has a primary school, IGA, roadhouse, hotel, post office and rural supply stores, with a doctor visiting weekly. Lake Grace, home to the nearest high school and hospital, is around a 30 minute drive away.
