A family run mixed farming business at Newdegate is after an experienced Farm Hand to join their small, hands on team. You'll get real variety across cropping and sheep, and run machinery on your own through seeding and harvest.

What you'll be doing

Day to day

  • Sheep work across the breeding flock and general livestock handling
  • Fencing, plus machinery maintenance and cleaning
  • Spreading and other general jobs around the farm
  • Trips to the Kukerin block to check stock and water

Seeding and harvest

  • Run the seeder, boomspray and truck on your own
  • Work alongside the owners and the rest of the team through the busy periods

Good to know: during seeding and harvest you'll stay on site at the Kukerin block, about an hour away, for roughly four nights at a time.

What you'll need

Experience with

  • Sheep
  • Driving a boomspray
  • Driving a truck

  • Chemical handling certificate (or happy to get one)

And you're someone who

  • Works well on your own and as part of a small, close knit team
  • Is happy to travel between blocks and stay on site in busy periods

Living in Newdegate

The main block is about 2km north of town. Newdegate has a strong local community and plenty of sport: footy, cricket, tennis, golf, bowls, basketball, netball and hockey.

In town

Primary school, IGA, roadhouse, hotel, post office and rural supply stores. A doctor visits weekly.

Lake Grace, about 30 minutes

High school (with a school bus from Newdegate) and the nearest hospital.
