A well established family farming operation within 10km of Moora is on the lookout for an experienced Senior Farm Hand to help drive their cropping and sheep enterprise forward. You'll be running a modern machinery fleet across seeding, spraying and harvest, lending a hand with the Merino flock, and working alongside a small, close knit team who take genuine pride in doing things properly. There's real scope here for the right person to grow into a leadership role over time, so if you're an experienced operator after real variety, good gear to work with, and a farm where your input and progression actually count, this one's worth a look.

🌾 About the Operation
This 4,500 hectare family farming operation is located within 10km of Moora, running a 90% cropping and 10% sheep enterprise. The cropping program covers 4,000 hectares of wheat, barley, canola, lupins and lentils, plus oat fodder crops for the sheep flock. The farm carries a self replacing Merino ewe flock of 1,100 head, supported by two sets of modern steel sheep yards and a raised board five stand shearing shed. The operation runs a modern fleet of broadacre machinery including Fendt and Versatile track tractors, John Deere FWA tractors, an 18m DBS seeder with Morris air cart, two 36m Rogator self propelled boom sprayers, two 12m New Holland CR9.90 headers on tracks, a Gessner deep ripper and a Vaderstad Topdown. The farm has a GPS autosteer tramline system with mapped paddock boundaries, plus extensive internal laneway access to paddocks, removing the need to transport machinery on public roads.
🔧 About the Role
Working alongside a small team of three full time employees, plus casuals during seasonal peak periods, you will operate a wide variety of cropping machinery and get involved across the full farming calendar.
  • Operating the SP boom sprayer, seeder, header and loader
  • Assisting with livestock activities across the sheep enterprise
  • Potential for seasonal road train operation
  • Involvement in infrastructure projects such as road construction
  • General farm repairs and maintenance
✅ What You'll Need
  • Previous extensive experience operating a boom sprayer, header and loader
  • Basic mechanical skills to carry out regular machinery maintenance and minor repairs
  • HR (unrestricted) license required, MC license an advantage or a willingness to upgrade
  • Farm fire fighting experience
  • Chemical handling and forklift certificate an advantage, or a willingness to attain these

Ordinary hours are 45 per week, with overtime as required during busy peak periods. During the busiest times of year, work is generally kept to a six day week through employee rotations.
🏠 Accommodation
A five bedroom, two bathroom modern brick house is available, set on two acres in a quiet area on the outskirts of Moora townsite. The home is air conditioned and unfurnished, and is well suited to a family.
📍 Location
The farm is located within 10km of Moora, a regional hub town with excellent services including a new early learning and childcare centre, two primary schools, a high school, a regional hospital, a doctors health centre, and chiro and pilates services. Moora has two supermarkets, two hotels, cafes, two car dealers and a strong local machinery and ag merchandise trade. It's less than two hours to Perth and just over an hour to the coast for beach and fishing. The community is active, with football, hockey, netball, bowling, golf, speedway, horse racing and pony clubs, plus a pool, squash court and gym.
