A large scale grain and export hay operation spread across the Northern and Southern Mallee is looking for an experienced Senior Farm Hand to join their team. This is a role for someone who's comfortable across a wide range of machinery, enjoys variety in their work, and has the confidence and people skills to step into a leadership role over time.
🌾 13,000ha grain & hay operation with extensive on farm storage
🌾 About the operation
This is a 13,000 hectare broadacre operation spread across the Northern and Southern Mallee in Victoria, growing wheat, barley and lentils alongside a significant export hay program. The property runs extensive on farm grain and hay storage facilities, supporting a large scale, well organised operation.
The machinery fleet is extensive and covers every part of the program:
| Seeding | 3 rigs — Morris Quantum 70ft, Simplicity Territory 60ft, Excel Disc 40ft, on Quadtracs and Steigers |
| Harvest | 4 headers — 2 x 9240, 1 x 8250, 1 x 9250, on 2 x 45ft and 2 x 50ft drapers, plus 2 chaser bins |
| Hay | 4 mowers (1 Massey SP, 3 Krone TC 500), 4 balers (3 x 8 string, 2 new this season, 1 x 6 string), 2 Berrima rakes |
| Spraying | Agrifac 50mt boom, Case Patriot 36mt boom, 36mt Croplands camera sprayer |
| Tractors | Mix of John Deere and Case Magnum, plus a large truck fleet and further support gear |
🚜 About the role
A full-time Senior Farm Hand position with genuine variety, working across seeding, harvest, hay and spraying programs on a well resourced, modern operation. This role suits someone with solid all round experience who's ready to take on more responsibility and support the team in a leadership capacity as they settle in.
Key responsibilities include:
🔸 Operating machinery across seeding, harvest, hay and spraying programs
🔸 Truck driving and grain or hay cartage
🔸 Supporting and guiding other team members on farm
🔸 Machinery maintenance and general upkeep
🔸 General farm duties across the operation as required
🔸 Following safe work practices and farm procedures at all times
This role suits a capable, experienced operator who enjoys variety, works well in a team, and has the confidence to lead when required.
✅ What you'll need
• Solid experience across broadacre cropping and hay operations
• Confident operating large tractors, headers, balers and sprayers
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to assist with maintenance
• Good communication skills and the ability to guide and support others
• Unrestricted Class C Driver's Licence, HR or higher an advantage
• Ability to work extended hours during peak periods
• Self-motivated, reliable and takes pride in doing things properly
• Genuine interest in taking on more responsibility over time
