A well established broadacre cropping operation based west of Moora in WA's Wheatbelt is looking for a Leading Farm Hand to join the team, with genuine scope to grow into a longer term leadership role. Running 4,000 hectares all under crop across a mix of wheat varieties, barley and lupins, this is a role for someone with the experience and instincts to calibrate an air seeder, set up headers properly and pick up on issues before they turn into problems. 🌾 About the Operation
This operation runs 4,000 hectares, entirely under crop, growing a range of wheat varieties alongside barley and lupins. The machinery fleet is a mix of John Deere and Case equipment.
🔧 About the Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Seeding, spraying and harvest operations
- Calibrating the air seeder accurately for different paddocks and conditions
- Setting up headers correctly for harvest
- Identifying and addressing machinery or operational issues early, before they escalate
- General machinery maintenance and upkeep
- Taking on greater responsibility over time, with support and mentoring from the wider team
This is a senior position with a genuine long term leadership pathway for the right person, working alongside an owner keen to develop someone into a more senior operational role over time.
✅ What You'll Need
- Solid, senior level farming experience across seeding, spraying and harvest
- Demonstrated ability to calibrate an air seeder and set up headers without close supervision
- A proactive, detail oriented approach, spotting issues before they come up rather than after
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of the job
- Genuine interest in growing into a longer term leadership role within the business
- Sound written and verbal communication skills in English

📍 Location
Moora is a Wheatbelt town around 170km north of Perth via the Great Northern Highway, and is the largest inland service centre between Perth and Geraldton. The town has a district hospital, doctors, a dentist, a pharmacy, primary and senior high schools, several banks, and a solid range of shops and community facilities. The property sits to the west of the Moora townsite.
