A family owned broadacre cropping operation in north west Victoria is seeking an experienced Farm Hand with a strong focus on spraying and truck driving. Running a 7,100 hectare program across owned and leased country, this is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in doing a job well and wants to work closely with a young, hands on owner who is genuinely focused on growing the best crops possible.
🌾 About the Operation
A 7,100 hectare broadacre cropping operation based in north west Victoria, with the furthest block around 65km north of the home base. The program covers barley, wheat, lentils, lupins, chickpeas, vetch and rye. The operation runs a modern machinery fleet, including a WEED IT equipped sprayer used to conserve moisture and nutrients over the summer months, and is agronomically front footed, with a strong focus on attention to detail and minimising errors.
🔧 About the Role
Working closely with, but separately from, the young owner operator, you will spend most of the year spraying or driving truck, with seasonal work sowing and harvesting in between.
- Spray operation across the cropping program for the majority of the year
- Truck driving as required throughout the year
- Seasonal sowing and harvesting work
- Monitor and operate the WEED IT equipped sprayer used for summer weed control
- Support with additional spraying during busy periods
- Ongoing machinery and truck maintenance and cleaning
- Work with a high level of attention to detail and a focus on minimising errors
✅ What You'll Need
- Experience operating a self propelled sprayer
- Experience driving trucks, including B double or road train experience highly regarded
- Header and tractor experience for seasonal sowing and harvest work
- A high level of attention to detail and pride in your work
- Ability to work independently as well as closely alongside the owner
- A genuine interest in growing high quality crops
🎁 What's on Offer
- $33 to $38 per hour, depending on experience
- $2 per hour pay increase for each year of service
