Ag Mechanic

This is an 11,000 hectare mixed farming operation based at Muntadgin in WA's eastern Wheatbelt, with 8,500 hectares under crop across wheat, canola and oats. The business also runs 2,500 head of sheep and a small cattle herd, with a feedlot capable of holding 500 lambs and a 6 stand shearing shed with 2,000 head yards, though livestock work sits well outside the scope of this role. The business is known for its forward thinking approach and strong systems, with real investment in top tier machinery. The modern John Deere fleet includes a JD 8285R and JD 616R, two new JD X9 headers, a 60ft DBS bar with JD C650 air cart, a Sonic boomspray, a JD 9520RT and JD 9R540, a Western Star C train, a telehandler, grader and support gear, and a Reefinator. Guidance runs on John Deere GPS and autosteer with auto turn and depth control systems. With machinery of this scale and standard, keeping the fleet serviced and field ready is a genuine priority for the business, not an afterthought.

This is a hands on, full time Agricultural Mechanic position responsible for keeping the machinery fleet running at its best across the full cropping program. You'll work closely with the owner and farm team, taking ownership of the workshop and playing a key role in supporting seeding, spraying and harvest operations. Key responsibilities include: 🔸 Servicing and preventative maintenance across the full machinery fleet 🔸 Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults 🔸 Supporting seeding, spraying and harvest programs by keeping machinery field ready 🔸 Managing parts, consumables and workshop organisation 🔸 Assisting with fault finding on GPS and autosteer systems 🔸 Occasional operation of machinery when required 🔸 General farm duties across the operation as required General hours are approximately 9.5 hour days, five days per week, with increased hours during seeding and harvest.

• Trade qualified mechanic or strong equivalent hands on experience • Experience servicing and repairing modern broadacre machinery, ideally John Deere • Strong troubleshooting ability across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems • Chemical handling experience an advantage • MC licence preferred but not essential • Positive attitude and strong work ethic • Willingness to be part of the local community
