Join a progressive 18,000ha broadacre cropping enterprise in WA’s Great Southern! This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Assistant Farm Manager to step into a hands-on leadership role within a modern, well-resourced farming business. ABOUT THE FARM:
The operation runs a 100% cropping program across 18,000 hectares, producing canola, lupins, lentils, oats, barley, and wheat.
The farm features a full fleet of Case and New Holland tractors, Agrifac boomsprays, New Holland headers, Elmar chaser bins, Agrispread spreaders, Komatsu and Luigong loaders, and a JCB telehandler.
A strong focus on precision agriculture includes CNH guidance systems, EM38 and Gamma mapping, Safe Ag Systems, Employment Hero, and a deep ripping program designed to maximise productivity and soil health.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
🔸 Assist in the day-to-day management and operation of the farm
🔸 Supervise and mentor a young team of machinery operators, farmhands, and seasonal staff
🔸 Support crop planning, budgeting, and scheduling to ensure programs are completed efficiently and on budget
🔸 Operate and maintain a wide range of modern broadacre machinery across seeding, spraying, spreading, and harvest
🔸 Liaise with agronomists, contractors, and suppliers to coordinate logistics and operations
🔸 Uphold WHS standards and ensure safe operating procedures are followed
🔸 Assist with maintenance schedules, stock control, and operational reporting
This is a hands-on leadership role, reporting directly to the Farm Manager, ideal for someone ready to take ownership and play a key role in running a high-performing cropping enterprise.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
✔ Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar Assistant Manager or Senior Operator position
✔ Proven leadership and team management ability
✔ Broadacre cropping experience across seeding, spraying, and harvest
✔ Mechanical aptitude and strong computer literacy
✔ ChemCert, HR Licence, and Forklift (or willingness to obtain)
✔ Certificate IV in Agriculture (preferred)
✔ Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
✔ Commitment to safe, efficient, and sustainable farming
HOURS & SEASONAL DEMANDS:
🕐 Average 50-hour work week
🌾 Busy periods (seeding & harvest): up to 14-hour days, 6 days/week
🛠️ Off-peak periods: standard 5-day week
